Please Donate Soap to Haitian Relief Effort

I've been getting a great response to my request for soap donations, but many soap makers still have not been reached. Saponifier Magazine and the Handcrafted Soap Makers Guild are both getting involved by reaching out to their subscribers/members as well. Yea!

Although non-profit organization Clean the World does not mention accepting homemade soap donations on their website, Co-Founder Paul Till told me this:

"
This is absolutely wonderful Staci...Thank you for contacting our organization and expressing interest in helping our cause. Yes, we would be extremely grateful if you could mobilize a movement within the soap makers here in the US. This would be awesome! If they want to simply send their soap to us when they are ready that would be great...Again, I can't thank you enough!"

Clean The World has a new address to send soap donations as of Friday, 1/15/10. All soap is rebatched by Clean the World before distribution, so you can send cold process, hot process, handmilled, melt-and-pour, even half-used bars as well as shampoo (opened or unopened) to:

Clean the World
8026 Sunport Dr. #306
Orlando FL 32809

Please help mobilize this soap donation effort by sending the e-mail below to your soap making friends and by posting this image on your soap websites and/or blog:

Here is the e-mail you can send out to your soap making friends:

Dear soap maker,

A 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides much-needed soap to the third world, "Clean the World," has asked me to mobilize the handmade soap community. The need for soap in Haiti is great.

Without hand washing, the broken sewers, plumbing, and toilets in Haiti will lead to diarrhea-related bacterial infections, which sadly effect children the most and lead to 5 million deaths annually. You can help!

Send your cold process, hot process, hand-milled, or melt-and-pour soap to:

Clean the World
8026 Sunport Dr. #306
Orlando FL 32809

The soaps do not need to be labeled in any kind of way (ingredients, type of soap, etc.). Please include a brief note with your contact information explaining that you've donated handmade soap and whether you'd like a receipt for your taxes.

Our contact at Clean the World is co-founder and managing director Paul Till. He can be contacted at info@cleantheworld.org (although he is very swamped at the moment!)

or from Clean the World's website:

PLEASE FORWARD THIS MESSAGE TO OTHER SOAP MAKERS! Thank you.
